This photo shows Licia Ronzulli, an Italian member of the European Parliament, whom is well-known for bringing her nursing daughter to parliament plenary sessions. She is setting an incredible example for women everywhere, and we can and should follow her lead.
Employers in the United States must develop a better support system for nursing mothers returning to work. While there are some workplace lactations accommodation laws in place, they must be expanded upon. Breastfeeding mothers require more comfortable nursing facilities at the workplace, and must be given appropriate support from their employers, such as breaks to pump milk. The Milky Way Foundation is joining other organizations to support the expansion of these laws and to educate businesses about the economic and social benefits to supporting breastfeeding mothers in the workplace.
